The Mural is like a metaphor for Community, The BIG image is the Community, the individual pieces of art are the unique individuals in the community.
The Portage Public Art Committee in consultation with the citizens picked the images of a plane, oxcart, train, and Portager for our boxcar, with geese, marsh and fields of grain. This Boxcar will join 149 other communities murals across Canada online, to create the largest mural in the world. The train connecting us all, as the railway did when Canada became a country from east to west.
